Attempting to load the homepage results in an error like “forbidden” or “page not found.” Something has gone wrong with files, directories, or permissions on the campus mainframe computer (umbc7/research). Attempting to load any library page results in error such as "failed DNS lookup" or "cannot locate server". Campus Domain Name Service may be down. Hostnames cannot be resolved. Solution: Try navigating to another site, such as Yahoo. If this works, but campus pages still will not load, contact OIT as above. 2. Try rebooting the workstation. If the problem persists, contact OIT as above.
Local (UMBC) pages will load, but not off-campus pages. Also, off-campus users may call and complain that they cannot access AOK's website. UMBC has probably lost internet access campus-wide. Solution: contact OIT as above.
