OCNA Board Meeting

August 29, 2007

 

Present:  Valerie Androutsopoulos, Allison Baurd, Chris Brennan, Officer Charlie Bury, LeNora Clampitt,

Robert Croom, Julie Newman, Joan Plisko, Cathy Sidlowski, Kirby Spencer, Mabelle Thomas, Cheryl Wasmund

Meeting began at 7:15

Minutes from previous meeting were reviewed; motion to accept passed.

Treasurer’s report presented and accepted.

 

Officer Bury from the Baltimore County Police was present to answer questions.  There was a discussion on bike thefts in area.  Officer Bury offered to give a presentation on deterring thefts.  There was also a discussion of increasing number of homeless arriving in Catonsville from other areas because of numerous services they obtain here (shelter and meals).

 

Picnic:  Moved to Saturday, September 29 at Benzing’s, from 3 – 6.  Need game committee.  Will do flyer announcing new date and put another notice in the newsletter.  Will have moon bounce and Karoke for older kids- offer gift certificate to best.  Will also look into a movie for evening showing.

 

Group home on Smithwood:  There is an ongoing problem with inappropriate behavior in the yard.  Company managing and renting home is not renewing the lease, which expires in January.  However the property will then be available for rent again.  Cathy suggested a “town forum” on issues.

 

Some items could not be covered in this meeting- another meeting will be held on Wednesday September 19 at Mabelle Thomas’s house- list serve will be discussed.

 

Nominating Committee for upcoming elections:  Cathy Sidlowski, Mabelle Thomas, Joan Plisko.  Joan suggested new position of Environmental Programs.

 

Frederick Road Street Planning- discussion of concrete “safety” strip near library.

 

Sidewalk on Beechwood:  Valerie suggested a petition from children.  Also to involve Presbyterian Church, because of issues with daycare.  Mabelle said there are meetings within the county dealing with the process.

 

Discussion on renewing membership in Chamber of Commerce- voted to do so.

 

A question of who owns property between Glenmore and Summit- would like a paved section for walking.

 

Cheryl suggested joining the Southwest Coalition.  She will find out cost and attend meetings.
