Short Description of Collection
This collection of records of the Biophysical Society documents the early origins of the society, beginning in 1955 when it's formation was initially proposed at a meeting of the American Physiological Society, the founding of the society in Columbus, Ohio in 1957, the development of the Biophysical Journal and other publications and its growth up to the present day. Correspondence, reports, minutes, and financial files of society officers and the standing and ad-hoc committees illustrate the breadth and variety of interests of the Society particularly its work in the area of promoting education and research in the field of biophysics. The collection is organized into five series: Officers and Executive Committee, Meetings, Committees, Publications, and Affiliated Societies.
