Add Readings to the Course

Readings are added to a course from the Show Courses page:

  1. Select Show or add readings. The following screen is displayed if there are no readings:

  2. A similar screen will be displayed if readings exist for that course as shown below:

  3. Select No reserves for this course. Click here to add reserve readings if no readings currently exist, or select Add more reserve readings to Course Name if readings currently exist. The following screen is displayed:

  4. Select the type of reading you want on course reserve. The appropriate input screen will display. (For example, if Article is selected, the following will display:)

  5. The entries at the top of the input screen are those included in a standard bibliographic entry. Complete citations are required to satisfy the Fair Use legal requirements of the Copyright laws.

  6. Under the heading Paper or electronic (choose one), only one section is used. This means that the reading being placed on course reserve is either a paper (e.g. photocopy or book) or an electronic reading (e.g. scanned item or online link to the reading). We will have a back-up CD-ROM available in the library for each course that contains electronic reserves, so that students can access their readings if network problems occur. For that reason, we will no longer provide paper back-up for electronic reserves.

  7. The 'Additional info' field is an optional free-text field. It has two purposes. One, you may enter any information you want to communicate to the Course Reserve staff (e.g. 'I have the book and will bring it to the library.'). Two, you may enter any information you want to communicate to your students (e.g. 'Material will be covered during week 6.').

  8. When finished filling out the form, click the Add this Item Button.

  9. The Reserve Ticket will now be displayed.
