Information for MAC Users

Note: All Documents Are Made in Acrobat Version 8, which is only supported by Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later.

Some MAC users have reported a problem with using E-Reserves.  They are able to get a PDF listing of the articles on E-Reserve for a course but cannot get the article itself.  A "workaround" has been submitted by a member of the on-campus Macintosh Users Group.  If you are experiencing this problem, please follow this procedure:

1. Download the PDF article listing.

No matter which browser you use, with Mac OS X, you cannot display a PDF in the browser like you can in Windows.

2. Open the PDF article listing with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Max OS X can render/view PDF files natively but not in the complete manner that Adobe can.  Only Adobe can support links in the PDF file.

3. Click on the link for the desired article.

A web browser will open and download the article.

4. Open the article with any PDF reader.

You can use Apple's built-in PDF reader or Adobe Acrobat.  Both support password-protected PDF files.  At this point enter the password supplied by your instructor to view the article.
