Warren E. Miller Scholarship for the ICPSR Summer Program

A scholarship fund has been established in honor of Warren E. Miller for participation in the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research. The fund will provide financial support to outstanding pre-tenure scholars (assistant professors and advanced graduate students) in the social and behavior sciences so that they may attend the 4 or 8 week ICPSR Summer Program, held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Awards will consist of a fee waiver and $1500 for 4 weeks or $2500 for 8 weeks.

Applicants should have interests in one or more of the following (or related) areas of research:

  1. Developing a common approach to understanding electoral behavior within and across nations;
  2. Understanding the process of democratization in different electoral systems;
  3. Understanding the link between global politics and local electoral behavior;
  4. Understanding how context influences political behavior;
  5. Understanding how globalization causes change in political behavior.
Application materials should include the following:
  1. an ICPSR Summer Program application;
  2. a vita;
  3. a letter explaining the applicant's scholarly interests, background, and future research;
  4. a letter of recommendation from the department chair, or the student's thesis advisor;
  5. an official transcript for graduate student applicants only.
