Library Information Technology Services

Mission

Library Information Technology Services (LITS) advances and promotes a technology-rich environment for both internal and external users. We aim to enhance online access to Library resources and services, and strengthen communication, collaboration, and outreach.

Goals

The goals of the LITS unit are:

  • to develop and maintain the Library's IT and digital initiatives, including the Library's website, digitization and digital collections, and computer programs and applications;
  • to provide and support the Library's computing and technology resources;
  • to work with UMBC OIT on IT and systems issues, including network and security, to ensure consistency and compliance; and
  • to provide assistance on IT and computing issues as well as training and other programs to increase technology awareness and knowledge in the Library community.

LITS activities are inter-departmental in nature, both within and outside the Library, and we engage collaboratively with all to ensure successful and positive outcomes.
