What is information literacy?
Information literacy is the ability to find, retrieve, evaluate, and use information effectively and efficiently. The skills associated with information literacy form the basis of effective research methods and skillful lifelong learning. How can my students learn about the resources and services available at the UMBC Library?
Request a library instruction session for your class using the instruction request form.

Create a "research help" section in your discussion board in Blackboard, and add a subject librarian as a teaching assistant to your course. If your students post a question about finding research resources, the librarian will respond on the board.

Contact your subject librarian about creating an online research guide tailored to your class.

Encourage your students to explore the Library's video tutorials on their own schedule.
