Locating & Using Census Information

Census data at UMBC are shelved in several locations. Maryland and Washington D.C. data are located on the low shelves behind the Reference Desk, and an index of Census materials is available there as well. Census data for other states are located in the Government Publications area in the Reference Room. If you have questions, please see a Reference Librarian.

There is no tract data for other areas in Maryland prior to 1990. County-wide data is available in Maryland Census Volumes. There is also data for places (towns) with populations of 1000 or more for 1950-1980. The volumes are located in shelving to the left of the Reference Desk. No Census maps are available.
