A symposium on the subject of the Patapsco project in the context of cultural conservation will be held on April 11, at 4:00 p.m. in the Library Gallery. Speakers include: Edward Orser, American Studies Department, as moderator; Elaine Eff, Director, Cultural Conservation Program, Maryland Historical Trust; Peggy Fox, photographer; and Alison Kahn, oral historian and freelance writer. A public reception will follow immediately after the program.
The project and exhibition, organized by The Friends of Patapsco Valley & Heritage Greenway, Inc. was funded by the Maryland Historical Trust. The show also received major support from the Elkridge Furnace Inn and the Howard County Arts Council, as well as donations from The Framer's Vise and from FCNB Bank. Its presentation here at UMBC has been funded in partby support from the American Studies Department and the Special Sessions Policy Committee. Generous support has also come the Friends of the Library & Gallery and from an arts program grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland and the National Endowment for the Arts.
