LIBRARY MEDIA STUDENT ASSISTANT

Unit: Library Media

Purpose: Responsible for the installation and the on-going maintenance and repair of the various recording and listening equipment throughout the Library Media area as well as the recording of new materials, student requests, replacements, etc.

Reports to: Media Staff

Duties include:

  1. Installation, repair and maintenance of Library Media equipment for recording, viewing or listening.
  2. Recording of audio ro video material as required.
  3. Implement Library Media Opening and Closing Procedures.
  4. Assist patrons at service desk.
  5. File and Shelve Materials.
  6. Shelf read Archive Record Collection.
  7. Search the bi-weekly lost list.
  8. Implement the Billboard Project.
  9. Implement the Discography Project.
  10. Weekly cleaning of the Listening area and Recording Room equipment.
  11. Other assignments as assigned.
Skills Required:
  1. Knowledge of video/electronic equipment repairs (video/electronic course(s) are preferred).
  2. General knowledge of recording room equipment and how it operates.
  3. General knowledge of music types (classical, etc.) is very helpful.
  4. Ability to work without supervision.
  5. Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  6. Ability to install equipment.
  7. Ongoing knowledge of Audio/Video equipment available in the marketplace.
Schedule:At least 10 hours per week. Although scheduling is flexible, the student must be able to work some day, night and weekend hours.

Pay Scale: Entry level
