Job Descriptions - Student Assistants

UNIT: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES

Duties include:
  1. Answer telephones and direct callers to the appropriate staff person or unit or take messages.
  2. File into both general and student personnel files.
  3. Hand-carry items to other UMBC offices.
  4. Maintain bulletin boards throughout Library.
  5. Process mailing of materials.
  6. Photocopy and collate documents, correspondence.
  7. Prepare Library weekend schedule using Wordperfect.
  8. Carry out basic research, data-gathering, and other special projects.
  9. Provide first draft word processing, proofreading.
  10. Assist other Library units, as needed.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
Skills: Quick learner. Ability to work with the public in a professional manner and to maintain confidentiality. Some familiarity with computers and word processing desirable. Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week (during Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and not less than 2 hours per shift.

Schedule: Between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Weekdays

Pay Scale: Entry level
