Job Descriptions - Student Assistants
UNIT: ACQUISITIONS
Reports to: Library Acquisitions staff
Duties include:
- Log in book requests from various campus departments.
- Searching the library's online catalog to make sure we do not already own the item.
- search various vendor databases to determine an item's availability. Some examples are, but not limited to, collection Manager (our primary vendor), Barnes and Noble and amazon.com.
- Create order records in the library system.
- Prepare purchase orders for mailing.
- Returning slips to department and/or requestors notifying them of the status of their orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Order follow-up - resolving old orders that have never been filled;
- Publisher/Vendor inquiries - finding information about an item;
- Special ordering - purchasing scores, dvds, dcs, etc.
Schedule: Students in this position generally work between 10 and 15 hours a week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
